Course Description
The aim is to provide students with the opportunity to explore the Fine Art disciplines of Painting and Sculpture, with highly experienced tutors, all of whom are practising artists. They will be able to learn specific technical skills with which to develop and articulate ideas, and also life-skills and attributes including decision making, critical and creative thinking, aesthetic sensitivity and the ability to co-operate with others.
Sculpture - The aim is to provide students with the opportunity to explore the translation of the human form into a sculptural language, using both modelling and carving techniques. They will also be introduced to the specific problems of scale and proportion and building a basic armature.
Painting - The aim is to provide students with the opportunity to explore aspects of visual language through painting, including colour, light and space. They will also be introduced to the specific problems of mark, scale and proportion.
