Applying for a place on the Graduate and Registered Teacher Programme for September 2012

These initial pages contain general information for prospective trainees and interested schools.

Canterbury Christ Church University is an Accredited Recommending Body (ARB) for a range of Graduate and Registered Teacher Programmes. Information concerning the following Programmes can be accessed via this website.

Graduate Teacher Programme (Primary and Secondary)

We offer a range of one year full time employment based initial teacher training programme.

  • Salary and Training Grant

(Whereby a trainee is employed in school on a supernumeracy basis) for both Primary and Secondary applicants.

  • Training Grant only

One year programme for graduates employed as unqualified teachers, with significant teaching experience and who are employed to fill vacancies. This is for secondary teachers only.

Registered Teacher Programme (Primary & Secondary)

A two year programme for those employed as teachers who already have 240 credits towards a degree and who are registered to complete the final 120 credits.  Available for both Primary and Secondary.

Overseas Trained Teacher Programme (Primary and Secondary)

A route for those employed as teachers who hvae a degree and overseas teaching qualification.  A one year course leading to qualified teacher status which caould also lead to exemption from the NQT induction year.

Assessment Only Route

A 'fast-track' route for those employed as teachers who already have considerable teaching experience.
