Student Counselling Service

The Student Counselling Service exists to support learning and personal development for students at the university. Its role is to provide accessible, high-quality counselling to students, and to offer consultation and training to all members of the university community, with a view to creating an environment within which all students can have the opportunity to realise their full potential. The service is free and confidential.

Counselling involves working with an experienced and specially trained professional, concerning any problems or issues that affect your studies or your life in general whilst at university. These may include bereavement, relationship difficulties, feeling generally unhappy or lack of confidence. To find out more about counselling at the university, click on the ‘Spotlight’ link to the Counselling web pages, where you will also find helpful information on a range of issues that could affect your wellbeing.  You can also telephone or e-mail the counsellors direct, using the details listed below.

Student Mental Health Adviser

Is it possible that mental health difficulties are affecting your University life? If this is the case then this Service may be able to help you.

The Student Adviser (Emotional Well-being) regularly meets with students experiencing mental health difficulties.  The main purpose of this service is to offer practical advice and guidance to help minimise the impact of these difficulties on academic progression.  She can help with issues such as time management, motivation and coping with symptoms.

An important part of this service is the provision of advice and guidance to a student's academic department regarding their support needs.  If you have any queries regarding this provision please do not hesitate to get in contact.
