Blended Learning Modules for Career Professionals
From September 2011, the Centre for Career and Personal Development will be offering three new modules within its MA in Career Guidance for a range of career professionals within the Careers Professional Alliance. All of the modules attract 20 credits at Level 7.
Theoretical Basis of Career Guidance Practice
This module will help you to gain an understanding of career guidance theory to enable you to gain critical insights into career guidance practice. It also includes a consideration of the role of reflective practice and the importance of gaining knowledge and understanding of Education, Training and Labour Market Information.
This module will suit people who want to gain insight into the theoretical concepts underpinning career guidance practice. This includes people who are undertaking the level 6 OCR Diploma in Careers Guidance and Development in the workplace.
Career Coaching
The aims of this module are to provide you with an opportunity to explore the nature of career coaching and to identify models of coaching which can be applied to practice. This module will suit those people who are engaged in career coaching or who wish to do so.
Career Learning and Development
This module provides you with opportunities to gain critical and comprehensive insights into contemporary policy developments in education and career guidance. From this you will be able to contribute to the development and delivery of careers education and guidance within schools and colleges. This module will suit those people who have a careers related role in schools and colleges.

You could use the credits gained from these modules towards an MA in Career Guidance|.
Where and when will I study?
These new modules will be delivered by blended learning with specially written learning materials on the University's Virtual Learning Environment, two seminar days per module and tutorial support by telephone and email.
Entry Requirements
To gain entry you will normally have a degree in any discipline. If you are not a graduate, you will be asked to submit a piece of written work as part of the selection process.
How will I be assessed?
The modules are assessed using a variety of methods including essays, case studies and reports.
Tuition fees
The fees for 2011-12 are £560 for each module.
