Student speaking to a careers advisorAlthough your thoughts are currently on life as a student, you will also be aware of the main reason for your studies: your future employment. The Careers Advisory Service at Canterbury Christ Church offers professional guidance to provide you with all the help and advice you need from the beginning of your University life, throughout your degree and after graduation.

There is a range of help available, including drop-in sessions to answer your queries, help to prepare your Curriculum Vitae, and advice on career planning and interview techniques.

If you are unsure what sort of career would suit you best, individual confidential guidance is available. Talks and workshops are given regularly about various different professions and job-finding skills, and a variety of ability and psychometric tests will assist you in making the right decision. Employability and Careers Services provide a range of services to students to help with work experience, career development planning and employability.

For final year students there are also opportunities to attend a range of graduate recruitment events. The University also provides opportunities for students to do short training courses (for example, sports coaching awards and foreign language courses) to enhance their skills and employability.

The Careers facilities are well-equipped, providing a comprehensive range of information for all students, including a wide variety of web-based resources. Employability and Careers Services works with the University’s Disabilities and Equal Opportunities Adviser for Students, and provides a range of resources for disabled students. The Careers facilities are accessible for wheelchair users. In addition our professionally qualified Careers Advisers are available to see students for confidential guidance interviews throughout the year.
