Introduction

The Pre-Sessional programme is a full-time programme of study lasting 10 weeks. It is ideal for students who want to prepare for entry to the Masters programmes offered by The Business School or who want to take an advanced level specialised English and Business course. The programme is designed to help you to develop the language, academic and personal skills necessary to succeed in the advanced study of business and management in a British University.

Content and Structure

Experienced staff from the Business School will deliver a series of Business modules that supplement the University’s English Language and Study Skills programmes. These modules are designed to enable you to develop skills of analysis, critical thinking, problem solving and spoken and written presentation. The modules are:

  • The Global Business Manager
  • Financial Analysis
  • Marketing and Customer Relations

Each module is delivered in six 2-hour sessions run to complement the University’s General English programme. In September, you will join a four week Study Skills programme.

Teaching and Learning

The programme is an interactive, activity-based programme designed to help students develop their confidence and abilities.

Assessment

A combination of group and individual written assignments, presentations and project work. Students who successfully complete the programme will be offered a place on one of the following Masters degrees:

  • MSc Managerial Finance
  • MSc Business & Management
  • MSc Marketing

Entry Requirements

IELTS 6.0 or equivalent and an undergraduate degree in any subject or College Diploma in Business.

Work experience may be acceptable in place of formal qualifications. To discuss your suitability, please contact the International Office.
