Other Important Information
Accommodation
Unfortunately the University is unable to guarantee accommodation to
students on postgraduate courses, such as the PGCE, but we will offer
suitable accommodation as it becomes available.
Please submit your application to the Accommodation department in the normal
way, identifying your postgraduate status. The Accommodation Office
staff will be in contact with you to explain what is available.
Further information and contact details can be on the
Accommodation
Office website.
Change of Contact Details
It
is important that you inform the Student Recruitment department and the GTTR of any
changes to your contact details (i.e. correspondence address, email,
telephone number) from the one that you provided on your GTTR application
form.
If you do not request that this information is changed, important information
will continue to be sent to your previous address/email from us or the GTTR.
To inform us of these changes please use the
Change of Contact Details
form and returned to the indicated address.
Information for Student Teachers with Dyslexia
Student teachers with dyslexia are accepted onto the programme.
However, it is necessary for these student teachers to demonstrate that they
meet all the Professional Standards for QTS, including those concerned with
literacy. Special arrangements can be made for the TDA Literacy Test.
However, classroom coping strategies are vital and these may depend on
special resources. Previous student teachers have asked us to
recommend to you strongly that you enter the programme with a very recent
assessment of your dyslexia if possible. This is because LEAs can
provide some resources and support, but tend to require a recent assessment
before releasing funds. Arriving with a recent assessment can speed
this process up considerably.
Special Needs/Disability
For those who have a special need or disability other than dyslexia and
would like to discuss any needs or support that may need whilst training,
then you should contact our Disability Officer
Margaret Scott.
Childcare
Student Support Services here at the University are pleased to provide
the following information regarding childcare facilities in your local area.
Financial assistance for childcare may be available on application (subject
to means-testing) to the discretionary Student Support Funds administered by
the University. For details please contact contact the
Student Support.
Further details can also be found on the
Student Support website.
