Quality Higher Education

The mission of Canterbury Christ Church University is to deliver excellent academic and professional education.

Graduating students from the Medway CampusEvery University in the UK is audited on a regular basis by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). The University was last audited by the QAA in May 2005 when it received the highest level of approval, and was therefore judged to possess rigorous mechanisms for the management of the quality of learning opportunities available to students and to be using these effectively and consistently.

In 2003, the QAA was contracted by the Department of Health (England), in partnership with the professional bodies, to undertake a major review of all Healthcare Programmes offered by English Universities. The University was reviewed in 2005, and reports on different areas of its activity were published in December 2005 and March 2006. Once again the University received the highest level of approval and in both reports its healthcare programmes were commended in all three elements of quality of learning opportunities.

In addition, the University undertakes its own internal reviews of programmes and departments to ensure quality and the continual development and enhancement of all its provision.

The Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED)

In 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002 the University’s primary initial teacher education programmes were inspected, as was every other primary initial teacher education programme.

Each area inspected was graded 1 (very good) to 4 (unsatisfactory). Canterbury Christ Church University received a grade 1 assessment in each area in all these inspections.

The full reports can be found on the OFSTED website.
