The University highly values its international dimension with an international student community drawn from over fifty countries. Canterbury Christ Church University is the closest UK University to mainland Europe and has links with Universities and Higher Education institutions across Europe and the rest of the world. International students join a variety of award-bearing programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level including PhDs.
Our International Office supports students during the application process and throughout their stay and has a dedicated International Student Services Officer. We organise orientation programmes and leisure activities including visits to London and other major attractions in the UK. International students are guaranteed a place in University College accommodation for the first year of their programme and given assistance for further years with recommended private accommodation.
Please note that students from European Union countries can join all programmes available to British students, while for entry clearance/Visa reasons overseas students can only attend fulltime programmes.
Canterbury Christ Church University recognises a wide variety of non-UK qualifications which are accepted for entry to postgraduate programmes. Some programmes require specific subjects to have been studied and may require relevant work experience; applicants should consult the relevant section in this prospectus. For students whose academic qualifications or English language skills are not at the required entry for our MBA or MSc Business Administration programmes, we offer a Pre- Masters programme which additionally awards the Certificate in Management Studies. Please see the relevant section of this prospectus.
All students must be competent in the English Language to be successful in their studies. You will need to show evidence of proficiency by an IELTS, TOEFL test result or equivalent. It may be that your school leaving certificates grades in English are sufficient; the International Office admissions staff can advise. For postgraduate entry an IELTS score of 6.5 is required or TOEFL paper test 570 or TOEFL Computer based test 230. For students who do not achieve these scores we can offer pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes and Study Skills programmes for an agreed period.
Our four week Study Skills programme is offered free of tuition charge to all students progressing on to our postgraduate programmes.
