Student Agreement

The Student Agreement is the student contract that relates to the obligations of the University and the obligations of the student.

In addition to this webpage, a copy of the Student Agreement is also available on request from the Admissions and Recruitment Department.

Together with the Student Agreement, this notice constitutes a term of any contract between the student and the Canterbury Christ Church University. Any offer of a place at the University is made on the basis that the student, in accepting such an offer, signifies consent to the incorporation of this notice, together with the Student Agreement, as a term of any such contract.

The contract comes into being when the student accepts an offer made by the University. If the offer is conditional, the contract becomes operational when the condition is fulfilled, for example on the student obtaining certain examination results and taking up their accepted place at the University.

The offer of a place from the University indicates the fees and other sums which the student must pay. Tuition fees become due on the first day of a student’s programme of study. Accommodation fees become due on the first day of taking up a place in University accommodation. All students are required to pay in full, or have made an arrangement with the University to pay, their tuition fees or accommodation fees before commencing study or taking up their place in University accommodation respectively.

Canterbury Christ Church University has a written, public policy on student debt, which forms part of the University’s regulations. The University reserves the right to vary the policy from time to time, in the light of prevailing circumstances.

All registered students of the University will become members of the Students‘ Union unless they exercise their right to opt out of membership of the Union. Any student wishing not to be a member of the Union should notify the President of the Students’ Union or the Vice Chancellor in writing of this intention.

Under the Student Agreement, students of the University are required to adhere to University regulations. These regulations are detailed in such documentation as the University Regulations and Student Procedures Booklet.

Students of the University receive documents describing the teaching, assessment/examination arrangements and other educational services, and under the Student Agreement these form part of the contract. The University undertakes to take all reasonable steps to provide educational services in the manner set out in the prospectus and in those further documents. It does not however guarantee the provision of such services. Should industrial action or circumstances beyond the control of the University interfere with its ability to provide educational services, the University undertakes to use all reasonable steps to minimise the resultant disruption to those services.
