Equal Opportunities

Canterbury Christ Church University is committed to a policy of Equal Opportunity, and the policy embraces all existing and intending members of the University community.

The University seeks to encourage a diverse community to which all individuals may contribute as fully as possible. It aims to create conditions whereby all staff and students are treated solely on the basis of their merits, abilities and potential by ensuring that no member of the University is unfairly discriminated against as a result of gender, colour, ethnic, or national origin, age, social background, disability, religious or political beliefs, family circumstances or sexual orientation. The University has recently introduced a Race Equality Policy and Action Plan in response to the Race Relations Amendment Act. This is published on the University web site: www.canterbury.ac.uk

Race Equality Policy

Canterbury Christ Church University is committed to promoting equality of opportunity and good relations between people of different racial groups in all areas of University life. It will seek to eliminate discrimination and to promote an inclusive ethos whereby individuals will have equal access to learning, teaching, assessment and support and employment opportunities and other services and facilities provided by the University and partner institutions.

The University is committed to treating all employees and students with dignity and will seek to create a learning and working environment free from racial discrimination, harassment and victimisation. Racial harassment will not be tolerated and any incident of racial harassment which is substantiated through due process will lead to disciplinary action being taken, with the possibility of dismissal of staff or expulsion of students from the University.
