Through the centuries artists have responded to the experience of war through art. Through illustrated lectures and discussions, this day-school will explore art as a historical document and a means of personal expression. It will examine the role of the official war artist in 20th century conflicts. Finally students will reflect upon the nature of the war memorial with examples of modernist monuments which have challenged convention.
