Research and Enterprise Development Centre

Academic Enterprise Office

Academic Enterprise Officers (AEOs) provide up-to-date advice on aspects of seeking and securing external and internal funding for research and knowledge transfer activity. They provide support for bid development to ensure that proposals are submitted on time and are of the highest possible quality.

The Academic Enterprise Office team also record outcomes of bidding activity and collate feedback which is used to enhance the quality of future bids. They act as a gateway to the knowledge and expertise within the university for external organisations and connect people with similar or related academic interests. Contact the relevant AEO for each faculty as below:

Nick Williamson, CEBD Development Manager and AEO for the Faculty of Education

Jenny Witherden, AEO for the Faculty of Health and Social Care

Kerstin Neubarth, AEO for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities

Debbie Wells, AEO for the Faculties of Business & Management and Social & Applied Sciences

Amanda Hutson, Knowledge Transfer Officer (Knowledge Transfer Partnerships)
Amanda’s role is to coordinate and support the development of KTPs across the institution in order to contribute to income generation. Amanda is the principal point of contact between the university and the KTP programme and the designated contact for external organisations and CCCU staff enquiring about the scheme.

Joanna Candler, Funding Co-ordinator, Academic Enterprise
The Funding Co-ordinator is the initial point of contact for academics with a project idea. A search will be done to identify appropriate funding sources, after which bid development support is available from the faculty AEO.
Joanna also identifies and disseminates funding opportunities through regular Funding Bulletins.

Penny Keogh, Administrative Assistant, Academic Enterprise
Penny provides admin support to the Academic Enterprise team and the KTP Programme. She also assists in the production and distribution of the Funding Bulletin and oversees the Grantfinder accounts for University.
