Research: Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour

With the increasing recognition of the pivotal role human capital plays in organisational performance comes the need for better understanding of Human Resource Management (HRM). As business practices evolve, HRM has become a central tenet to achieving competitive advantage and overall success. Its significance has grown in particular at transnational level, with the role of government, the European Union and other socio-economic forces playing their part in shaping the future of work. As a consequence, the employment relationship is ever changing and has become increasingly complex.

Our research to date reflects this changing field and encompasses a wide range of HRM related interests. Research has predominately focused on HRM, International HRM and European and comparative employee relations. More specifically, staff are actively engaged in researching employee involvement and participation, worker voice, information and consultation, comparative trade union representation, the employment relationship, pay and reward management, organisational culture and values, SMEs and migrant labour. These projects comprise of independent-led and research collaborations, with co-researchers across the wider academic and professional community.

We welcome applications for PhDs in the area of HRM, particularly from individuals with commitment to publish in top rated journals.
