Biography
Shaista obtained a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Bath, a PGCE from the University of Wales, Cardiff College and a MA in Economics from the University of Kent. She also has a background in financial accounting, having worked for KPMG Peat Marwick. Shaista has used this experience to build a good working relation with local accountancy firms in Broadstairs and Canterbury.
She was a lecturer at Thanet College where she taught on various professional qualifications such as AAT and CIM, HND and Diploma programmes and was programme leader for the Access to Business Studies. Shaista was also an A-level marker.
In 2000 Shaista was appointed senior lecturer in the Business School at Broadstairs Campus, where she has taught on a range of graduate and post graduate programmes, focusing on economics, financial and management accounting.
From 2005 Shaista has been a CIMA advocate and a marker for accountancy professional bodies. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
