Biography
Miriam has a postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies, an MSc in Business Administration and a PGCE, all at 'distinction' level.
Miriam worked previously in industry (including several years with Pfizer, Sandwich) and has been involved with the development and management of two family businesses. Miriam has also worked as a researcher for a Local Authority (including a training needs analysis for high-tech businesses) and for the former Business Development Unit of Canterbury Christ Church University. Previous teaching experience has included EFL, the assessment of NVQs in industry and business administration and supervisory management courses in FE.
Miriam joined Canterbury Christ Church University as a Senior Lecturer in 2000. With a Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship focus, she taught at Canterbury until 2008 on a range of programmes, from the Kent Police/Emergency Services DMS to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Business.
In September 2008 Miriam relocated to the Broadstairs campus in line with her aim of supporting access to higher education for people living and studying in Thanet. She now teaches on a range of courses across all three years of the undergraduate programme. Miriam is also enrolled on a Doctorate in Education programme at the University.
Teaching and Academic Interests
Miriam lectures on Strategic Management, Leadership and Management, Entrepreneurship, Business in Society and People in Organisations. She is also a support tutor for the Broadstairs "Problem Oriented Project" and a Year Tutor.
