Kristina Masuwa-Morgan

Biography

Dr Kristina Masuwa-Morgan has a BSc in Psychology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management studies, an MSc in Information Systems Engineering with Business Information Systems, plus a PhD in Computing and Maths focussing on Accessibility Requirements Specification. She also has various professional qualifications in Business Administration, Marketing and Information Management.

She has worked at CCCU since 1998, first in the Department of Computing and now in the Business School. She has been in HE since 1994 having started her HE career at Southbank University and also having had a short period of teaching at Westminster University. Before this she worked in the computing industry for 12 years as Operations Manager for Central Computing Services (Ministry of Finance) in Zimbabwe then Analyst/Programmer for a Zimbabwean parastatal called the Agricultural Finance Cooperation. She then became Software Manager and later Logistics Manager for an information technology company before she became a self-employed consultant working with major clients such as ICL (Zimbabwe), University of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Public Health Labs and various other legal and medical organisations. Some of her key systems have included a loan enquiry system, an integrated business system (including debtors, creditors, stock control and nominal accounting), an AIDS analysis system developed for the Public Health labs in Zimbabwe.  Whilst working at Southbank University, she also worked as an Information Management Consultant/Trainer offering database development services and training. Some of her major clients included London Voluntary Services Council, Camden Social Services, Happy Computers, and various other organisations.

Before becoming Faculty Learning and Teaching Co-ordinator, Kristina was Programme Director for the MSc in Information Systems run by the Department of Computing, and then Programme Director for the BSc in Business Information Systems. She also worked as Faculty Quality officer for the Faculty of Business and Management as well as representing her Faculty on the CCCU Academic Planning Committee and Equality and Diversity Committee. Her key areas of development for Learning and Teaching are in areas of e-Learning, graduate skills and assessment. She is also a member of the UK Software Metrics Management Committee.

Kristina is also a literary critic, poet and short story writer recognised as a 'Chimurenga Writer' (group of political writers that emerged in Zimbabwe following Independence in 1980). At the time of her first publication she was also the youngest ever Zimbabwean author to publish an anthology and the first ever Zimbabwean woman to publish in English.

  • Assistive Technologies and Accessibility issues;
  • User Support Systems; Requirement specification and design methods.
  • International Business and eBusiness
