Student representatives

Student Rep
Student Representatives are elected by their fellow students at the start of their time at Christ Church to act as a voice for students at department level. They tend to remain in the position for their whole time at Christ Church unless they step down or another student comes forward wanting to be a Student Rep which then leads to an election.

Who are we?

What do we do?

The role of Student Rep is to listen to fellow students concerns and suggestions, to raise such issues at Department Meetings and/or Staff Student Liaison Committees where it is discussed with academic staff and student representatives and then feedback the relevant information to students.

Issues raised by students in the past have included questions over the time it takes to mark essays, the choice and availability of course options, the use of Blackboard in relation to courses and the spreading out of due in dates for assignments to avoid congestion.

As well as Department representation, there can also be Student Representatives at Faculty level on the Faculty Board. This involves representing students from various courses across the Faculty.

An important part of our activities is the organisation of social events for students. We regularly organise parties,  Christmas and End of the Year socials and our "Canterbury Cathedral by night" tours for new students have become legendary!

How can I become a Student Rep?

If you're interested in becoming a Department student representative for your year group than speak to any of the current Student Reps or alternatively contact the Head of Department| expressing your interest.
