The Department of Media at Canterbury Christ Church University is one of the country's leading providers of media-related degrees, with a long history and an outstanding reputation for combining practical and theoretical approaches. We are proud to be celebrating our 30th Anniversary| this year.
Courses are offered in a range of different media, covering everything from film, television, journalism, and video games to animation, photography, radio, and the web. Our courses are lively, relevant, and up-to-date and our teaching has been rated 'excellent' by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA).
Professional production facilities are offered at both our Canterbury and Broadstairs campuses and include a BBC Radio Kent studio in our Powell building (named after the celebrated British filmmaker Michael Powell).
We have excellent links with media industries at local, national, and international levels. Our courses are supported by visiting speakers – high-profile media professionals (such as Thelma Schoonmaker-Powell, Martin Scorsese's Academy Award-winning film editor) and graduates of the Department who return on a regular basis to share their knowledge and experience.
