Canterbury Programme for International Students
The Department of History and American Studies is responsible for the academic programme for study abroad students from the USA. This programme welcomes students from a number of American colleges and universities in September and January every year. The fall semester programme (September - December) corresponds to the autumn term of the BA/BSc programme at Canterbury Christ Church and the spring semester programme (January - April) corresponds to the spring term of the BA/BSc programme.
Students choose four courses (equivalent of 12 credit hours) as follows:

Modern Britain (British politics and society)

British History Survey (Romans to Civil War)

British Literature Survey (Chaucer to Dickens)
There is also a large number of other courses e.g. in Business , American Studies, History, English, Film, Religious Studies, Social Science, etc. that students can choose from.
There are also a number of field trips e.g. to The Tower of London, The Globe Theatre, Dover Castle and Rochester that students undertake as part of their academic programme.
Students are accommodated in university residences or with families on a home-stay basis.
