History and American Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University is a thriving Department which combines high quality teaching with internationally recognised research. Students in the Department also have the opportunity to spend time in North America if they are taking American Studies as a single honours subject or combining it with History.
The Department's programmes have been consistently highly rated in terms of their quality and variety. This includes outside assessors such as External Examiners and also internal quality audits. Teaching in History and American Studies has also been highly rated in National Student Survey results.

The Department is also committed to providing the best possible support for its students, especially in Year One when students are making the transition from school or work into life at university.
