Charlotte has taught in Canada, Nigeria, Hungary, England and Australia in secondary and tertiary institutions. She has also worked as an educational service manager and inspector in local education authorities in and around London in the areas of EAL/ESL, Traveller, Refugee and race equality education.
She has for many years been involved in postgraduate teacher training in English as an additional language (EAL), and she is the director of the MA TEAL programme, the level 3 IPEAL programme and the new ESOL programme. Her professional interests are in the field of second language education, in particular the education of linguistic and ethnic minority pupils, as well as second language teacher education.
