Andrew Palmer has been a lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church since 1996. He is the Programme Director of the MA in Creative Writing until September 2011. From 2011-12, he will be Programme Director of the Single Honours BA programme in English.

At undergraduate level, his teaching includes the modules Literature Between the Wars, Literature-Language-Politics in Post-war Britain, and Writing the Holocaust. At Masters level, he leads the module Literature and War from 1914 to the Present, as well as modules for creative writing students on the short story and the novel.

Current projects:

'"In the Shade of a Ghost Gum": Bruce Chatwin and the Rhetoric of the Desert.'

A paper on images of the photograph in war poetry.

"The market and the do-gooders: the effects of conglomeration and intervention in the world of literary fiction."
