Alastair Bennett is part-time lecturer in English. He teaches medieval literature from 1066-1550, including modules on The Canterbury Tales (year 2) and Devotion and Dissent (Year 3), and the history of the language in years 1 and 2. His research interests include Piers Plowman and late medieval dream poetry, Middle English sermons, Wycliffism, and Middle English mystical writing. He is currently developing a monograph based on his doctoral dissertation, 'Narratives of Decline in Late Medieval English Sermons and in Piers Plowman'. His edition of a previously unpublished fifteenth-century sermon from British Library MS Royal 8.F.VII is forthcoming in Medium Ævum. See also Dr Bennett's entry on our research page.
