BA Single Honours Programme in English
Programme Director
The Programme Director for Single Honours is Dr Andrew Palmer.
Entrance Requirements
Applicants will be asked to obtain at least a B grade in English at A-Level, plus a C grade in another A-Level subject, or equivalent qualifications.
Transfer into Single Honours at Level 5
In order to transfer into Single Honours English at Level 5 the following criteria must be met:

You must have achieved an average of at least 60% in your Level 4 English modules

You must have passed Level 4

There must be places available on the Single Honours Programme
If you are interested in transferring to Single Honours and you have met the requirement of a 60% minimum average in your Level 4 English modules you are encouraged to contact the programme director as soon as possible after you receive your Level 4 results.
Duration of Programme
3 years minimum--six years maximum
Programme Structure
This structure applies to English for Single Honours BA students following either full-time or part-time programmes of study.

100 of the 120 credits taken at Level 4 must be Discipline Modules, so students of English must take all three of the mandatory Discipline modules and EITHER all three OR any two of the optional Discipline modules. If two only are taken, the remaining 20 credits can come from the Level 4 starred modules of any other Department within the General Modular Scheme.

Discipline modules to the value either of 100 or of 120 credits must be taken (including, for all students, the mandatory module on Victorian literature). In the former case, the remaining 20 Level 5 credits may come from the Level 5 starred modules of any other programme within the General Modular Scheme.
