General English
This course is for students who wish to make progress in their use of English for general purposes.
The course combines developing accuracy with fluency and focuses on the structures of English as well as the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. The course offers a rich choice of options in the afternoons to add variety to your English study.
Levels: Elementary to Advanced.
Dates of course: All year (including summer).
One month minimum stay during the academic year (terms 1, 2 and 3) , three weeks minimum stay in the summer.
Class size: 15 maximum – Average size 12
Minimum age: 17 years old
Course content: 21 hours of classes per week: English structures focus (grammar and vocabulary), skills development, study options, plus use of computers on University campus.
Location: Canterbury Christ Church campus.

Placement test
On the first Monday of your course you will be given a placement test. This is used to help determine your English level and make sure you enter the correct programme and level for your ability.
Options
Option choices will be explained to students on arrival. Examples of options are:

These classes will run subject to minimum numbers and level of English.
Social activities
The International Office organises a range of social activities such as visits to sites of historic and cultural interest and parties each term and these are advertised on the International Students' notice board. Students who want to participate on visits will need to book places with the International Office. The tuition fees do not include the cost of the social activities. Each event is charged separately. The average cost of a full day trip is £25 and a half day trip is £15.
