Over the past 20 years Phil has freelanced as a saxophonist performing in a variety of ensemble sizes and styles ranging from original pop/jazz ensembles, function bands, soul and tribute bands, theatre pit orchestras, big bands, small jazz ensembles, studio session musician for all styles, boat work, solo and duo work, and classical ensembles of various sizes.
In addition to his teaching at Christ Church Phil is currently one of only three trained tutors to deliver Yamaha group lessons on saxophone in the country, and is trained as tutor instructor.
Phil's aim as a tutor is to improve learners' versatility as performers and develop all-round musicianship, helping to prepare performers for the real music industry.
