John Irving Releases New Recordings
John Irving’s new solo harpsichord CD, Sonatas from the Court of Salzburg: Leopold Mozart and his Contemporaries is now available from sfz.
It will be distributed nationwide through Harmonia Mundi from 6 February 2012. It is already availble from the sfz website: http://www.sfzmusic.co.uk|
The CD was recorded on a historic 1764 single-manual harpsichord by Johann Adolphe Hass (part of the Edinburgh University Collection of HIstoric Musical Instruments) in St Cecilia’s Hall, Edinburgh, and features music by Leopold Mozart, Cajetan Anton Adlgasser, and Johann Ernst Eberlin - works in a style transitional between baroque and early classical that the young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart would have had ringing in his ears growing up in Salzburg in the early 1760s. The recording project was supported by The British Academy.
