Music Alumni Association Constitution

Eligibility for Membership

Membership of Canterbury Christ Church University's Music Alumni Association will be open to anyone who has earned a qualification from the Music Department.

Charges

There is no fee for membership of Canterbury Christ Church University's Music Alumni Association. Members will, however, be subject to charges with respect to their attendance at specific events that generate costs (for example the cost of tickets for concerts, or for dinners).  These funds will be managed by the University's Music Department and will be solely for the purpose of defraying the expenses incurred by the Association and will not contribute to the Department's income generation.

Committee

The Music Alumni Association will be overseen by a President. The current President is a nominee of the Music Department to aid the establishment of the Association and will preside for 2 years. From 2011– 12 onwards, future Presidents will be elected by members every 3 years, from 3 nominees put forward by the Music Department.

The President will be assisted by a Music Alumni Association Committee, responsible for planning events, supported by administration from within the University and subject to the authorisation of the Head of Department.   Committee members will elected every 3 years by members from a pool of volunteers from amongst the membership.

Events

The University reserves the right to cancel any events arranged for the Music Alumni Association where there is insufficient attendance, or for any other necessary reason. In the event of cancellation, any charges levied to members in connection with the event will be refunded.

Termination of Membership

The Music Alumni Association is established for the enjoyment and benefit of the Music Department's Alumni, working in relationship with the Department itself. Canterbury Christ Church University reserves the right to deny, or to terminate the membership of any individual whose conduct towards other members of the Association or the Department falls demonstrably outside this spirit and ethos. Individuals have the right to appeal in writing to the Association's President, whose decision is final.

Termination of the Music Alumni Association

Canterbury Christ Church University reserves the right to terminate the existence of the Music Alumni Association in the event of membership falling to unsustainable levels, or in the circumstance of it being impossible to hold any events for the period of one academic year due to lack of attendance.   Formal termination of the  Association will co-incide with the end of an academic year.
