Play to your strengths

With four specialist pathways (in Dance, Drama, Vocal Studies and Technical Theatre), professional practitioners on the staff, and state-of-the-art facilities, our Performing Arts degree courses will get you ready for life in the most exciting industry in Britain today. Whatever your interest, you will get the chance to develop your talent to the full – and develop new interests you may not have thought about until you came to Canterbury Christ Church University.

Where we are

The Performing Arts courses are taught in new, specialist facilities: the University Centre Folkestone, and its next-door-neighbour, the theatre we call 'Quarterhouse'. Both are stunning new buildings in the heart of Folkestone's 'Creative Quarter'. Here we have a vibrant mix of creative businesses and festivals on our doorstep. It gives our students a lively culture - and a rich resource from which to learn.

The University Centre itself has specialist, state-of-the-art studio facilities for the Performing Arts. Our theatre, 'Quarterhouse', is 100 yards away, and boasts a 250-seater auditorium with sound and lighting rigs which give our students a chance to get their hands on industry standard performance equipment. This is a professional, commercial venue, and our students are involved in it as learners, administrators and creatives.

Looking around...

We live and work amongst some of the liveliest and most creative minds in our part of the country. We know the people who run the theatres, arts organisations and public arts agencies, and these potential employers are involved in our courses. Our students have already formed creative collaborations with film-makers, writers, radio and TV professionals and set designers – and they're ahead of the game as a result.

What can you do?

We want lively, creative students with a belief in the power of the performing arts to change hearts, minds and lives. We want people – of all ages, experience and backgrounds – who have a community-oriented attitude and a willingness to get stuck in to the creative opportunities in this work. If you think that you could make a contribution, through the performing arts - at local, national, and international level - we want you.
