Dan studied at RFTV at Canterbury Christ Church University before continuing his studies at The Bristol School of Animation, a training school for animators set up by Aardman. After leaving he got the chance to work in the model making team on Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were Rabbit.

"The RFTV course at Canterbury Christ Church University really helped to allow me to explore film and animation, and was the foundations for my career. The department has great facilities and resources and enabled me to use the latest equipment. The lecturers, technicians and support staff were all friendly and helpful and supported all of my student productions".
Andrew Swann - Senior Operator - BBC
After graduating in 2001, Andrew spent a few months working for a small post-production company, but that didn't work out, so worked freelance for nearly 2 years, a couple of days a week for BBC Radio Kent (roles included answering phones, booking guests, technical studio management, on-air presentation, audio editing) as well as working from my home studio as a sound designer and editor on a series of hour long science fiction audio dramas for Big Finish Productions.
In 2003 Andrew got a job as a Broadcast Assistant for BBC South East (on the regional news programme South East Today) where he worked on the media hub looking after line feeds and rushes ingestion onto the digital server as well as autocue operations.
Andew has been doing his current job of Senior Operator also with BBC South East for 5 years. He works in a multi-skilled newsroom and in that time he has performed (and still regularly does) the following technical jobs on 'South East Today' as well as 'The Politics Show': Video Editing Sound Mixing (studio and location) Floor Managing Camera Operation (studio and PSC newsgathering) Graphic Design Vision Mixing Directing.
Andrew is currently one of 4 senior staff who direct the main flagship 6.30pm regional news programme. In December 2008 he reduced his working days at the BBC so he could concentrate on my own freelance work once again. Andrew has worked on a variety of short films, documentaries, audio and theatre productions in that time.
"I chose to do RFTV principally because it had a significant part of the course geared towards practical training. This was of particular use to me in the beginning of my career as it enabled me to ease into roles that otherwise I would have had to have had significant training for".
