Medieval Canterbury was internationally important as the site of St Thomas' shrine, and was on the main highway between London and mainland Europe, traversed by kings, knights and merchants. Thus it was an ideal setting for a weekend programme of lectures and guided visits that showcased recent research on the middle ages. The joint venture between Canterbury Christ Church University and Canterbury Cathedral drew audience members from as far away as Wales, Cornwall, Newcastle, Manchester and places in-between.
We were thrilled by the public response to Medieval Canterbury Weekend and to have sold over 1500 tickets. The event proved to be a true celebration of all things medieval in this gem of a medieval city.

We invited postgraduate students researching the Medieval period to submit a poster titled ‘Making my Research on a Medieval Topic Accessible to the General Public’ as part of our weekend.
