Tinnitus Awareness

Tinnitus Awareness

Shelley developed tinnitus two years ago and was motivated to help raise awareness of this incurable condition. Her research involved producing an app that is designed to be both informative and fun. It includes an interactive sound meter that sees a customisable cartoon face change from happy through to sad depending on the noise level.

Shelley said:

“I didn’t realise that loud noise could be so harmful to my hearing and now I have lost silence forever. I can’t turn back the clock, but I can use my experience to help others avoid tinnitus”.

Shelley Bartlette is a senior lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church University. She is responsible for teaching Web Design and Development across all three years within the Digital Design suite of programmes. She has a passion for web standards, semantic mark up, information architecture, user experience design and interaction design.
