We’ll draw wax in states of dripping, melting, bending and snapping - all the while thinking about its usefulness and symbolism. Implements for this session will be wax crayons.
Drawing Materials is an evolving series of material-led drawing sessions devised by artist Bethan Lloyd Worthington.
It’s like a life drawing class, but with stuff; participants look closely at and draw raw materials. Drawing is a way of spending time with a thing, and so understanding it more deeply.
Past participants have included archaeologists a basketmaker, historians, a surgeon, a shelf stacker, a photographer, a carer and various manifestations of artist. Everyone is welcome and no experience at all is necessary.
Each session is themed around a particular material - making drawings of a thing in its own matter.
