Tutor: Nicola Waddington | Canterbury campus | £30
This course focuses on the main sources for researching family history
and demonstrates how to access sources via Ancestry. It takes the
participants on a chronological journey, starting with the present, and works backwards looking at which archive sources can be used for which periods of history. It also includes methods and approaches to family history research, including how to keep records, how to verify your information and possible traps and pitfalls along the way.
It is aimed at beginners and introduces general register office (GRO) certificates, electoral registers, wills, the census, parish records, tithe maps, Ancestry websites and how to use a local authority record office.
Why not join Nicola in the afternoon for her companion course: Family History Research and Surgery Session?
