In the 1960s and 1970s the term ‘Canterbury Sound’ was used to refer to the psychedelic and progressive rock developed by artists such as Caravan and Soft Machine. This day-long event looks at the development of the Canterbury Sound as an inter-generational, local and international cultural phenomenon. Talks by various artists and academics during the day will be followed by performances in the evening by two key bands, the Soup Songs – assembled with the support of Robert Wyatt – and Lapis Lazuli, who push the boundaries of musical styles with their brand of prog rock. Also appearing will be Jack Hues and the Quartet, and Koloto. Please click on blue button for either day tickets, including the evening performance (SoupSongs and Lapis Lazuli) or for tickets for the evening performance only. There is no Early Bird price for the evening only ticket. The evening performance starts at 7pm.
