Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

We hope that the FAQs below help answer some of your queries in advance. If not, please email us at alumni@canterbury.ac.uk.

What do the terms alumna, alumnus or alumni mean?

An alumna (f), alumnus (m) is a graduate of a school or college. Alumni (pl) refers to our community of former students.

What is the policy for data held in the alumni database?

Contact details for alumni are supplied monthly to External Relations by CIS from the QLS database. These details are added to the Raisers Edge database, which is maintained by External Relations. Change of contact details for alumni should be submitted to the External Relations Department, either via the ‘update your details form’, letter or telephone, 01227 782266. Updated details will be processed on the Raisers Edge database as quickly as possible. Alumni can opt out of receiving mailings from the University. Those who do not wish to be contacted by the University will have this noted on their record. All forms containing addresses will be destroyed once the record has been updated on Raisers Edge. Contact details of alumni will not be given out on request. The External Relations Department will pass on the details of the person who wishes to contact a former student to him/her.
