Welcome to this message from the Chaplaincy Team, which gives you information specially designed for students about to join the university. We hope that what follows will assist you to make contact with your own community of faith. You will find details below of the main World Faiths, but the Chaplaincy Team will be pleased to support you and help you make contact, where possible, with others who share your faith, irrespective of your religion.
For Buddhist Students There is a Buddhist Meditation Group that meets on Mondays and Thursdays at 7.30pm in 38 St Martin's Road (off North Holmes Road near the Canterbury Campus). For Hindu Students A CCCU-based Vedic Society is in the process of being formed; for further details, download the Information sheet (Word doc). The nearest Hindu Temple to our campuses is located at the Medway Hindu Centre, 1, Randall Road, Chatham, ME4 6JY. For Jewish Students There is a Reformed Synagogue in Ramsgate, close to our Broadstairs Campus. For more information email TDRS@imsbvs.f9.c0.uk. There is also a traditional and independent Synagogue in Medway: the Chatham Memorial Synagogue, 366, High Street, Chatham, ME4 4NP, phone: 01634 847665 or 01634 842405. Muslim Prayer Room facilities are available in Fleming Building at North Holmes Road. The facilities provide for separate male and female washing and prayer rooms within rooms Fg02/03/04 and Fg05 and they are signed accordingly.
