The ChapelWelcome to the Church directory. As part of our on going commitment to ministry and mission, we have spent time liaising with the local church community in attempt to assist you in finding your spiritual home whilst in Canterbury. what follows is a list of Churches and contacts who all willing to support you as we travel together. The student representatives allotted to the church are themselves members of that worshipping community and willing to meet and guide you as you church hope around Canterbury.

Please do not feel restricted to simply sample the flavour of just one church, it may be that it takes a while to find somewhere that you feel an affinity with or that you receive your bread from one tradition and your wine from another.

Tyler Hill Baptist Church c/o 14 Fletcher Road, Whitstable CT5 3HE. Situated in Hackington Road, Tyler Hill. Contact Mrs Gillian Fuller (Secretary). Main service 6.30pm. A small village Baptist Church (linked with Canterbury Baptist Church) offering a traditional service, led by a number of regular visiting preachers. Service is followed by refreshments and fellowship. A welcoming community seeking to reach out into the local area.

All Saints Canterbury Military Road Canterbury. Contact Revd Michael Stace, 01227 451169, Christine White Alm: 01227 455978. Main service: Eucharist at 9.30 am, Family Worship at 11:00 am. All Saints is a friendly, family church consisting of people from nine weeks to 90 years +. Everyone is welcome who wishes to come and worship. All Saints is keen to work with local students.

Our morning service is a blend of modern and traditional music, bible reading and junior church activities. Regeneration is a cafe style, contemporary service making a two multimedia technology to enhance worship and bible reading.

A warm welcome to Canterbury! The nearest church to the University, St Paul’s stands at the centre of the Anglican faith. We are a known for our distinctly warm and welcoming community. Our church is open to all and is made up of a congregation of all ages. We have a large enthusiastic choir (new members welcome!) and a lively Sunday School called Sunday Zone. St Thomas’ Catholic Church 59 Burgate, Canterbury CT1 2HJ. Tel: 01227 462896. Contact Canon M Bunce. Main service: Sat: 6.00 pm, Sun: 8.00 am; 9.30 am; 11.00 am & 6.00 pm. The Sunday mass at 6.00 pm is very popular with students and young people. We have an excellent folk group with lively music and participation.

All Saint’s Westbere, (Part of Sturry and District United Church – Anglican & Methodist. The Rectory, 2 The Hamels, Sturry, Canterbury CT2 0BL. Tel: 01227 710320. Contact Revd Peter Cornish. Main service: 11.00 am Holy Communion, morning worship An older, smaller but welcoming village congregation; quieter and more traditional than Sturry but still with some gentle modern songs. We use both Methodist and Anglican pattern or service. Sorry, there are no facilities but people still linger to chat.

St Nicolas Sturry (Part of Sturry and District United Church – Anglican & Methodist. The Rectory, 2 The Hamels, Sturry, Canterbury CT2 0BL. Tel: 01227 710320. Contact Revd Peter Cornish. Main service: 9.30 am Holy Communion, Family Service, Morning worship Varied! With members from a wide range of Christian backgrounds. All-age approach; we welcome everyone to share in Communion (including before confirmation); music very varied, from traditional hymns through to the latest Spring Harvest songs, with a music team once a month and PowerPoint about twice a month. We use both Anglican & Methodist patterns of Service. Coffee/tea/juice and often cake after the service. Comfortable padded chairs (no pews!). Good disabled access including facilities.

Main service: 10.30 am 6.30 pm Evangelical, Family based church with a heart for mission and outreach. We are committed to seeing the whole church grow regardless of age, gender, social standing or academic ability.

Main service: 10.00 am 'traditional', in Salvation Army terms - our Holiness Meeting - but there are some occasional contemporary features. It is the main teaching meeting of the week - it is followed by refreshments. 5.30 pm less formal and more contemporary with a variety of styles. "The church is a mixture of the old and the new in terms of age and worship styles! There is an atmosphere of welcome and acceptance. Music is a big part of our worship both in traditional terms (band and songsters (choir) and in contemporary ways. As well as catering for our own needs we also seek to serve the community".

New Life Pentecostal Church Tel: 07999792824, email: office@newlifecanterbury.org A vibrant multicultural church that serves the higher education institutes and Canterbury city. We are dedicated to equipping members. There is leadership skills’ training and teaching on various topics.

Contact Minister- Rev Geoffrey C Boxer minister@canterburymethodistchurch.co.uk , Student Worker- Beth Little: studentworker@canterburymethodistchurch.co.uk Main service: Sunday at 10:30 am A warm welcoming community with a good atmosphere and lots going on e.g. our Student Group “Ichthus” which meets at the church on Thursday evenings which has combination of social events and Christian discussion. Our main service follows a fairly traditional style with a good mix of songs and styles of worship. This is followed by time together over coffee with plenty of chat and socialising. Our new Student worker Beth, who starts in September, will look forward to meeting you.

Main service: 10:30 am and 6.30 pm at Chaucer SchoolAn informal church with a strong Bible focus. We are a family with a wide range of ages and backgrounds. We encourage wide participation in worship, fellowship and outreach. We actively support a number of city-indi?, Christian activities. We have flourishing student and youth activities.

Main service: 10.00 am St Peter’s Church, 11.00 am St Mildred’s Church. Both churches follow the modern Catholic tradition using Common Worship. One church has two term-time Services from CCU. We welcome the student community into our churches. Our Parish Priest is a young man in his 30’s so we look forward to extending our mission to students.
