What you need to do
Clearing. Easier than ABC.
Applying through Clearing can be a confusing and stressful time. The steps below guide you through what you need to do to secure that all-important place.
1. Talk to an adviser
The careers advisers at your school, college or local careers office have experience of helping many students applying through Clearing. They can help you choose the best course and subjects for you.
2. Find out which courses have vacancies
For a full list of course vacancies you should visit the UCAS| website. You don't have to stick to the subject you chose originally - there may be other courses which might suit you better.
3. Contact us
Once you have your exam results, you can contact us about the possibility of gaining a place through Clearing.
If you were declined an offer from Canterbury Christ Church University earlier in the year you can still contact us to apply for Clearing, either for the same course or any other.
4. Do your research
You will be studying the course for the next three years, so make sure Christ Church is the best place for you before you accept an offer.
The best way to find out more about the University, our accommodation and social life, is to make a visit and have a good look around. Once we have made you a Clearing offer you will be invited to visit the University, meet a lecturer from your course and have a look around the campus.
5. Find your Clearing number
We will ask for your Clearing number when you call. Your Clearing number is displayed on the 'welcome' page and 'choices' page in UCAS Track.
6. Adding a Clearing choice
If we offer you a place in Clearing, we will give you a date by which you must enter our details on UCAS Track.
If you want to be formally considered, you need to click on 'Add Clearing choice' button and enter the course details. You can only enter details for one choice. Only enter us as a Clearing choice if we have provisionally offered you a place on the course and you want to accept it.
7. Once your place is confirmed
UCAS will let us know when you've entered our details on Track. Once we accept you, the acceptance will be displayed in the 'choices' section of UCAS Track and UCAS will send you a letter to let you know your place is confirmed and explaining what you need to do next. Once you receive this letter, you will be happy to know that you've officially gained a place at Christ Church.
If you aren't accepted, the 'Add Clearing choice' link in UCAS Track will be reactivated so that you can apply to another choice through Clearing.
