The facts about Clearing
Clearing runs from mid-July to September. It’s an opportunity to secure a last-minute place at university, if you haven’t already accepted a university place.
Am I eligible?
You can take part in Clearing if you have already applied through UCAS and if one of the following applies to you:
-
You have declined all your offers or not responded by the deadline
-
You haven’t received any offers
-
You sent your application to UCAS after 30 June
-
You declined a changed course, a changed entry date and/or changed point of entry offer
-
Your offers haven’t been confirmed because you haven’t met the university’s conditions
-
You applied for one course which has been unsuccessful and you’ve paid the full application fee
Course vacancies in Clearing are published on this site from mid-August until late-September.
Don’t miss your chance of a place
When applying for a university place through Clearing we need to talk to you – your parents or friends cannot call on your behalf. So it’s a good idea to plan your holidays around when your exam results are released.

‘Track’ on the UCAS website will indicate if you can use Clearing. It's important you check Track, because this the only way you will find out if you are eligible for Clearing. If you can apply through Clearing an 'Add Clearing choice' button will appear on your UCAS Track 'choices' screen which you can use to apply.
