Research Excellence Framework

The University is committed to delivering high quality research across its range of disciplines. Our submission in 2008 to the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) resulted in the recognition of world-class research in:

• Education
• Music

And internationally excellent research in:

• History
• English
• Sports Science
• Allied Health Professions including Nursing and Applied Psychology
• Theology and Religious Studies

Preparations are now underway for submissions to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) for 2014. This will see an increase in the number of subject areas and staff submitted.

New areas are likely to include Business and Management and Media.

We will continue to invest in our staff and their research capacity to ensure the research undertaken has a positive impact on policy and practice and social, cultural and economic prosperity.
