Parents in Education Research Network
The growing recognition of the importance of parents to a child's learning has seen a rapid growth in research about parents in education.
The Parents and Education Research Network (PERN) is a group of individuals and organisations concerned with the promotion, dissemination and application of research about the participation and effects of parents, families and carers of children, in the context of home, school and the wider community.
PERN aims to:
-
provide an exchange of research information
-
provide a forum for discussion
-
encourage new research in the field (including collaborative research)
-
publish selected findings
-
promote the effective use of findings
-
influence policy makers
-
interact with other organisations concerned with research about parents and education
-
work with other European partners as the English language network, affiliated to the European Research Network About Parents in Education (ERNAPE).
The network, which is now based in the Research Centre for Children, Families and Communities, is managed by Professor Felicity Wikeley, Dr Sacha Powell and Joanna Apps.
