At Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology we seek to make a significant contribution to the development and delivery of health and social care services through the application of psychological research and understanding.

The range of our work covers accredited postgraduate programmes, applied research, knowledge transfer, professional practice, and consultancy. These activities address a broad range of key areas within applied psychology, psychological therapies, policy support, and both service and organisational development.

Our courses

Doctorate in Clinical Psychology

Our Clinical Psychology doctorate integrates clinical, academic, and research practice to achieve the highest quality of professional training. During your studies, you will be supported by a range of professional staff including clinical psychologists with extensive experience in a range of therapeutic modalities, applications, and client groups.

Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Our Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy offers an excellent programme of study across a mix of classroom learning, clinical case work, clinical supervision, and intensive skills workshops.

The six modules of our BABCP-Accredited Postgraduate Diploma provide participants with the aptitude, skills and competencies to practise as Cognitive Behaviour Therapists. Participants will gain the expertise for assessing and treating patients with a range of anxiety and depressive disorders. The aim of the programme is that on successful completion of the Diploma participants will have met the minimum training standards for provisional accreditation with the BABCP, the accrediting body for CBT therapists in the United Kingdom.

Clinical Neuropsychology

We offer two fully online, part-time, BPS-accredited postgraduate awards that upon completion provide the right of entry onto the BPS’ Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN). Part 1 is the ‘knowledge’ component, a PGDip in Clinical Neuropsychology, and part 2 is the ‘practice’ component, a PGCert in Clinical Neuropsychology Practice. These courses are available to HCPC-registered clinical and counselling psychologists.

We also offer a host of fully online, continuing professional development (CPD) courses, which draw upon content and the expertise from the BPS-accredited PGDip Clinical Neuropsychology. Courses are available to all professionals who work with people with acquired brain injury and/or long-term neurological conditions, with courses at foundation and intermediate levels, and with ‘advanced’ and more extensive CPD courses available for professional practitioner psychologists.
